For the past 11 years, John has taught bass, guitar, trumpet and music theory to all age groups. He worked at Trilogy Music School in Roxboro, NC, for three years and served as a band director for Roxboro Community School in 2007. In 2006, he received his Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies from North Carolina Central University. At NCCU, Orlando played upright bass and valve trombone with the NCCU Jazz Ensemble for many university functions, recruiting trips, and community events. He is currently the bassist/vocalist for the East Coast Entertainment Exclusive Act, Groovetown, which plays regionally and nationally. He also serves as bandleader for the independent act, The J.O.B., and has recently released his first self-titled original album. His past experience includes: touring the U.S., Canada, and Europe with legendary blues artist Skeeter Brandon, and songwriter/producer Roy Roberts, and playing in various local acts. With a background in many styles and genres of music from jazz to rock to classical, John tries to impart a practical, real-world approach to his teaching.
Warren is a guitarist and musician of 7 years from Apex, NC. Warren specializes in Music Theory and Composition across multiple genres such as Classical, Jazz, and Rock music and is a Jazz major at NC Central University. Aside from advanced musical concepts, Warren also teaches at the beginner, intermediate, advanced, and professional level and has experience with students between the ages of 5 and 50.
Brendan Macie was exposed to many styles of music growing up, and has been playing banjo since the age of 15. He majored in Bluegrass Oldtime and Country Music at East Tennessee State University, and he is currently a student of banjo virtuoso Jens Krüger. Along with private instruction, Brendan specializes in studio work and performs live frequently in Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
